We work closely with Hadlow College to deliver quality training in a commercial environment. JOB TITLE: Vehicle Technician
LOCATION: Ashford Skoda
HOURS OF WORK: 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4.30pm Friday,
and 8.00am to 12.00pm Saturday (on a 1 in 4 rota)
SALARY: Commensurate with skills and responsibilities


To carry out routine servicing and warranty work, diagnosis of vehicle problems and the general maintenance of vehicles as required, without supervision.

Warranty Administrator


To carry out any work efficiently, ensuring correctness and in accordance with safety procedures.

To ensure a ‘right first time’ approach to servicing and repairs at all times.

To achieve an average recorded efficiency as required.

To recover defective or damaged vehicles as required.

To ensure parts for warranty claims are cleaned and free from oil and water, identified and returned to the Parts Department.

To ensure that due care is taken at all times when working on customer’s vehicles.

To ensure that when driving any vehicle (company or customer), it is done so in a safe and courteous manner, within the law and company procedures.

Be conversant with manufacturer’s technical literature and equipment.

To maintain and develop skill levels in all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance.

To create a safe environment by keeping the work area clean and tidy at all times.

To ensure that vehicles comply with safety regulations and any defects must be clearly noted on the Job Card.

To be prepared to work ‘overtime’ where reasonably requested by the management.

To discuss repairs with customers as required in a courteous and helpful manner.

To immediately notify the Service Manager of any damage or fault to any technical equipment in the workshop, tooling or customer’s property.

To make full use of any tools or equipment to improve workshop efficiency and customer service levels.

To make sure any tools and equipment are used correctly and any special tools are returned as soon as possible after use.

To accurately ‘clock on’ and ‘clock off’ Time Cards throughout the day and make sure all the job numbers are entered on the card before ‘clocking off’.

To ensure that Job Cards are written up when the job is complete, including clear and concise reasoning as to why a component(s) has been changed.

To ensure the use of car protection, i.e. wing covers/seat covers/floor mats and to keep the area around the work bay and ramp area clean at all times.

To ensure that any vehicles parked outside are securely locked and alarmed (where possible) making sure that keys are not left in the vehicle, but locked in the secure key cupboard.

To ensure that vehicles are parked in an orderly way in front of reception and facing towards the road for ease of departure.

To maintain product knowledge, to read any service bulletins and to attend manufacturers product training courses where required, MOT refresher courses and any other training as required.


To maintain good communications with all branch departments, staff and customers as requested.


This list of duties is not exhaustive and other tasks and responsibilities will be required of the post holder including any other duties commensurate with the post as requested by the Workshop Manager, Service Manager or Branch Manager.

We are looking for someone aged 16-18 with a minimum of 5 A* - C Grade GCSE’s (including Math’s and English), who has bags of enthusiasm and is willing to learn new skills. You will need to work hard in your studies whilst gaining “on the job experience” four days per week in the office. We will help you learn the various skills you need and will keep a watchful eye as you put them into practice. Ideally you will be self motivated and eager to learn but with a keen eye for attention to detail.

Day to day duties within the accounts team which you will start to learn and perform during the first year are:-

• Cash book postings
• Bank reconciliation
• Sales invoicing and maintaining sales ledger
• Purchase ledger postings and supplier statement reconciliation
• Investigating and answering routine queries
• Analyse basic financial information
• Identify and resolve errors and discrepancies

The Best Connection is proudly advertising for an individual who is interested in gaining a valuable trade. A client of ours is looking for a yard person/apprentice welder. The ideal candidate would be someone looking to start a career in a new trade.

The first few months of the job would be working in the yard with the rest of the team, helping to move stock around the yard, painting goods and loading lorries for delivery. This work would come along with being a general tea boy. However there would be opportunities to go off to sites with some of the team to assist with the welding work, which occasionally can lead to overnight stays.

After the first few months you would eventually be trained to weld and do everything to the same standard as the rest of the team. The work itself is physical and would require someone who is athletic and doesn't mind a bit of graft.

The hours of work are 7:30-5 Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday morning. The individual would need to be able to drive or close to getting a full UK driving due to the location of the work.

You will need to be a hungry, "go getter" as the ideal candidate would eventually want to be going out and finding their own leads and new clients as well to increase their revenue further.

* Liaising with customers
* Liaising with suppliers to obtain best prices
* Completing costings for tenders
* Reviewing service sheets for works required
* Processing urgent call out sheets for priority cases
