Title: Transport Manager
Location: Dover
Hours: 40 hrs per week (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm)

Are you well organised with excellent attention to detail, sociable and able to build a good rapport whilst remaining professional at all times? Do you have experience working within a high pressured office environment working to strict deadlines, where you need to think on your feet. Do you have good problem solving abilities? Are you proactive and positive in your approach? If you can answer yes to these questions then I would like to speak to you.
My client based on the outskirts of Dover is looking for a Transport Manager to join their expanding team. Experience would be ideal but not essential. But you must possess the above qualities.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the daily logistical planning of 10-15 vehicles. This may consist of both UK and European traction and freight forwarding. Liaising with existing and new customers to book and secure new work.
Organising schedules and routes, ensuring vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements and making sure drivers are aware of their duties.
To monitor and plan trailer/vehicle maintenance.
Undertake and maintain health and safety records in accordance with current industry compliance including Silver FORS standards,
Undertake marketing on behalf of the company to attract new customers and provide fully costed quotations.
Skills and experience:
You will ideally have several years experience of working within the transport industry and of working in a busy and pressured environment.
Excellent communication skills and a very professional telephone manner are essential for this role.
You would need to have good problem solving skills and be able to adapt to a changing environment at short notice. You would need to be a logical thinker and be flexible with an ability to make decisions quickly.
The successful candidate must also be safety conscious with a full knowledge of the transport operations and maintenance in relation to the vehicles, drivers hours and route planning.
Good geographical knowledge, with strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads.
Excellent budget handling skills.
My client offers free parking, 28 days annual leave (inc bank holidays).
