Cygnet Hospital Godden Green provides a nurturing environment for children and adolescents. It offers a range of services and a balanced education in the Knole Development Centre. The hospital also has a low secure unit for men who require rehabilitation.
Job Summary:
To be responsible for the provision of catering services to patients, staff and visitors as required. To be responsible for the smooth running of the Catering Department.
Key areas:
– To be responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of all meals required.
– To check the textures, proportions and quality of all meals including the presentation to encourage a healthy diet.
– To be able cater for a variety of patient dietary requirements including vegans, coeliac and dairy-free.
– To use hygienic and economical methods to prepare, cook and serve food.
– To be fully aware of and adhere to all food hygiene regulations, including refrigeration temperature records.
– To maintain personal hygiene and that of all Catering Staff.
– To be responsible for the cleaning of equipment and catering premises.
– To assist/arrange rotas to provide adequate cover for the catering services in respect of the Chefs and Catering Assistants.
– To instruct where necessary other members of the catering staff of their duties and offer assistance where necessary.
– To maintain adequate stocks of catering supplies and to purchase provisions from agreed suppliers.
– To maintain accurate records of all meals provided including food samples as required.
– To observe all safety regulations, and employ safe working practices reporting any defects in materials or equipment to the Head Chef.
– To report any possible health and safety hazard to the Head Chef.
– To ensure that all catering staff are employed using the Personnel, Policies and Procedures manual, and in consultation with the Head Chef
– To ensure that the required documentation is received prior to any agency chef cover.
– To advise Head Chef of any symptoms of illness that may affect the safety of patients and staff, and restrict access to any food premises.
– To participate in the Mandatory & Statutory training provided by the Hospital.
Cygnet Hospital Godden Green is set in rural Kent Weald, a short drive from the centre of Sevenoaks, with easy access from Maidstone, Orpington and Tonbridge.
