This is an exciting time for P&O Ferries, where L&D is at the heart of driving business performance.

We are currently recruiting for a Learning and Development Manager who is commercially focused, business savvy, naturally curious, who can support in the development and delivery of an L&D strategy and on cultural change initiatives.

The salary for this role is circa £50,000 and is a full time position, based at our head office in Dover.

Knowledge & Skills (essential):

- Strategic thinker who is creative and innovative but realistic and can prepare high-level proposals and rolls their sleeves up getting into the detail to organise and deliver what needs to be done

- Analytical thinker and problem solver whilst being able to think and articulate points clearly and at pace focusing on salient points not all the detail

- The ability to plan work and meet deadlines

- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Good interpersonal skills to work as part of a team

- Passionate about delivering learning for the modern/digital age, thinking beyond the classroom

- Knows how to source or develop/construct e-learning packages, use collaboration tools and videoing/virtual classrooms (highly desirable)

- Proactive and can act without being told what to do or needing daily supervision but knows when to check in to remain aligned to overall strategic thinking

- Does what they say, makes stuff happen, gets it, owns obstacles and barriers. ‘Yes we can and this is how’, focus in all we do

- Challenges positively the way we do things, customer thinking and influences pragmatic solutions

- Pay attention to details. Anything that is worth doing is worth doing right first time, every time

- Project management, organisational skills and delivery to deadlines

Experience (essential):

- Evidence of day to day running of an L&D offer and thinking and acting as a commercial, business focused L&D professional who seeks to add value, continually assess and improve the offering and delivery

- Evidence of playing a key role in developing a strategic, blended learning offer that demonstrates delivering a key strategic business need and a significant return on investment

- Evidence of applying modern thinking to learning and utilising learning systems and technology

- Experience of developing MI and tracking key information and reporting on insights and taking proactive interventions to deliver improvements as a result and benchmarking internal information against external benchmarks

- Gets the right balance between supporting the customer but really teasing out if there is an L&D owned intervention or the line need to take ownership for an issue through coaching, challenging culture/performance or leading – not just delivering without question and seeing value

- Critically, must be able to demonstrate delivering at the front and to senior leaders, challenging cultural thinking and unlocking and challenging thinking aligned to a new culture, influencing people to think and behave differently and embedding a change mind-set and tools in a transforming business.

- Strategic but practical thinking and experience of apprenticeships, early careers, developing offers by role and management development offerings

- Delivering engagement surveys and performance management beyond a process and thinking in a strategic way
