Howletts Wild Animal Park and Port Lympne Reserve work in conjunction with the Aspinall Foundation and are committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and reintroduction programmes. The parks are home of one of the world’s most prized wild animal collections and are one of the biggest visitor attractions in Kent.
We employ over 450 staff in a diverse range of job roles which include; Animal Keepers; Hospitality Assistants; Gardeners and Administrators and are looking to expand the HR team to meet the demands of a rapidly expanding organisation. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced HR Administrator to join the HR team. This is a fantastic opportunity that will involve many aspects of HR, so interested parties will need to display a good basic knowledge of the HR profession including employment legislation and best practice possess excellent administration skills and have a friendly and personable approach.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Head of HR you will assist the HR team in providing administrative support on a variety of general HR activities. Duties of the role include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintain the HR inbox, coordinating incoming paperwork and respond to emails when required
• Assisting the HR team with the recruitment process. This will include advertising roles, arranging interviews and ensuring all relevant documentation is received and completed
• Data input of new starters into the electronic HR files
• Keep the company electronic HR and time management systems up to date
• Produce correspondence, on behalf of managers, relating to all areas of Human Resources
• Archiving documents and files
• Produce monthly turnover/absence reports
• Complete employment references
• Take meeting minutes when required
• Assist line managers with the administration necessary for implementing formal performance appraisals and informal performance management
• Respond to phone and e-mail enquiries and queries dealing with them in a timely manner
• Produce reports on an ad hoc basis as and when required by the Head of HR.
The Person:
• Experienced HR administrator
• Possesses a good basic knowledge of HR policies and processes
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent data entry skills
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft packages
• Experienced in producing reports
• A good team player
• Ability to multitask and prioritize your own workload appropriately
• Ability to use own initiative where appropriate
• A CIPD qualification is desirable but not essential
Reporting directly to the HR Manager you will be based at Port Lympne Reserve but will be required to travel to Howletts Wild Animal Park so a valid UK driving licence and your own transport is essential. Working 20 hours a week between Monday to Friday, this position offers you flexibility in your working hours in a unique, challenging but friendly environment.
Starting salary is £9,000 gross per annum (equivalent to a full time salary of £18k pa)
