An exciting opportunity to join the Geku Engineering team has become available.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic fabricator/welder apprentice. The successful candidate will need to enjoy being hands on with a logic mindset and most importantly eager to learn.
Duties will include welding, cutting and handling steel framework, assembling robot plinths and bespoke equipment structures, to required specifications.
They will learn to:
• Read and interpret technical drawings
• Operate welding equipment to fuse metal segments using gas metal welding
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
• Maintain safe work practices
• Carry out repairs, modifications and refits
• Analysing and inspect work
• Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects
• Handle and manoeuvre heavy steel structures safely

Desired skills
• Must be practically minded and hands on
• Be able to work as part of a small team
• Be able to follow instructions and complete tasks to deadlines
• Be able to listen and show initiative
Personal qualities
• Must be reliable
• Be able to problem solve
• Able to stick to and complete tasks
• Must get on with people and communicate well
Desired qualifications
• Must hold A to C GCSE in English, Maths or equivalent
40 hour week plus paid overtime
