Fundraising Development Director
(Salary Circa £80,000 plus bonus opportunity)

The Aspinall Foundation is a leading animal conservation charity; our two wild animal parks in Kent are home to over 1000 rare and endangered animals. Our main aim is to protect endangered species through captive breading and where possible to reintroduce these animals to protected areas in the wild.

The Foundation manages two gorilla rescue and rehabilitation projects in the central African countries of Gabon and Congo, where we have successfully reintroduced over 50 gorillas. We are currently developing projects in Java to protect the critically endangered Javan Gibbons and Madagascar to protect the greater bamboo Lemur. We operate the most successful primate re-introduction programme in the world.

We are looking for an experienced senior fundraising professional to support and guide the team of fundraisers in creating and delivering an exceptional Fundraising strategy.

The successful candidate will develop strategic, proactive relationships with potential sponsors and corporate partners, and other supporters of the philanthropic community and high net worth individuals. They will also; identify, cultivate, solicit and secure the support of key corporate prospects and develop and generate new business through researching and prospecting new supporters. The role also requires you to review and present new association proposals to potential partners with the purpose of attaining additional income to the charity sponsors. You will also ensure constant communication with each marketing partner and/or their agencies and follow up their participation in The Aspinall Foundation.

We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive individual with excellent interpersonal skills coupled with creativity and the ability to analyse opportunities. The individual will have previous experience of building a sponsorship or similar sales programme and proven success in meeting or exceeding a quota above £3 million annually. You will also need to have a track record of developing corporate partnerships. Furthermore, the individual will be able to demonstrate knowledge of trends in fundraising, education, corporate policies, corporate responsibilities and philanthropy, as well as corporate giving and the methods, practices and procedures for obtaining information about cause-marketing programmes of corporations and foundations. The ideal candidate will also be able to clearly communicate and articulate concepts and ideas, accompanied by exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills.

This is role is full time working 40 hours per week. The ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed is required along with a flexible approach to working hours as the role demands working some weekends and evenings to entertain potential supporters.
