Our client, a very successful schools academy trust in East Kent, has asked us to help recruit a Chief Information Officer to commence work spring 2018.

This position will report to the Director of Finance & Operations / Chief Executive Officer and will have dotted line responsibility for;

• School based Examinations Officers
• School based data managers
• School based admissions and student administration officers


Person Specification (includes):

• Educated to degree level
• Extensive knowledge of information management
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access skills
• Strong analytical and data reporting skills
• Knowledge of designing/developing IT systems to provide data to senior management and leadership.
• Understanding the role of Data Standards in IT Systems


Main Responsibilities:
• To train and develop data and student administration staff;
• To develop internal tracking systems and combine data from various schools and sources into one consolidated platform;
• To be accountable for the use of data systems in raising standards and performance across all schools within the Trust;
• To oversee the provision of accurate and timely information as required for Trust management and external returns;
• To work with Senior Leaders to oversee curriculum and timetable development, using Management Information Systems and other timetabling software, meeting all necessary deadlines;
• To develop new systems to respond to the changing needs of the Trust: to include the Trust report and tracking system with procedures (student review and reporting/school liaison with ALPS, FFT and other external databases) and the academic, behavioural and report databases;
• The development of systems to provide data to Leadership Teams on value added performance of individual schools and teachers, subjects and departments;
• To produce reports and data analysis to support the School Leadership and Management Teams, Governors and academic staff on progress towards all school targets;
• To manage the input and output of data ensuring that external deadlines are met and internal reports are produced. To ensure that the MIS data is accurate and robust ensuring that reports are accessible for all schools and staff;
• To maintain cumulative records which can be used for monitoring progress in teaching/learning, and assist in target setting process;
• To advise schools and staff on methods of accessing information and to provide in-house training on data interpretation, results and findings. To assist the staff in the use and understanding of data/target setting. This will include the delivery of INSET to staff using own resources and systems;
