Our local client is seeking a competent Junior Web Developer, to maintain web site ensuring that best practices are followed regarding SEO and user journeys. Their image is very corporate, but there is scope for creativity within that boundary.
The company’s site is multi-lingual, so a knowledge of international SEO would be really useful. A fluent knowledge of the German language would be advantageous.
The role is responsible for ensuring that the site ranks highly and delivers an excellent user experience, which will drive sales. Also, designing, coding and modifying websites. Striving to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.
• Regular exposure to business stakeholders and executive management, as well as the authority and scope to apply your expertise to many interesting technical problems.
• Candidate must have a strong understanding of SEO, UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
• The position requires constant communication with colleagues.
Responsibilities
• Primarily implementing SEO to ensure maximum web site visibility and return on investment
• writing code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as PHP or JavaScript
• planning and prototyping new applications
• designing the architecture of the components of an application
• deciding on the best technologies and languages for the project
• testing sites and applications in different browsers and environments
• problem solving
• fixing bugs
• testing new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases
• running performance benchmarking tests
• learning and testing new technologies, frameworks and languages
• staying up to date with new trends and advancements in web development
• building and maintaining databases
• refactoring and optimising existing code
• documenting code so other developers can understand and contribute to it
The companies need are not always for full time, hence flexible working are possible or flexibility to work in other areas such as server management could be used to increase hours.
