A leading and highly reputable organisation is searching for Deployment / Application Engineer to join a dynamic IT department.

The right candidate for the role of the Environment and Deployment Engineer be able to communicate at all levels including a technical and non-technical audience. They will be flexible and be willing to learn new skills and take on tasks as directed.

The Environment and Deployment Engineer will work closely with the Change and Configuration Management Technicians within the Team and wider IT team and support their activity whilst ensuring activity is carried out in a controlled manner.

Primary focus will be on Core critical systems however the number of IT systems is significantly bigger and growing hence there will be a need to guide the business on right approach for effective management of systems.

This opportunity is ideal for a self-starter and will require both good technical and organisational skills.

Core Responsibilities are as followed;

Working with the Service Transition Manager to design and implement solutions to aid in management and deployment to Environments throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (for a growing number of systems) including:

* Managing alignment of environments
* Managing and Co-ordinating environment builds covering build of servers and setup of interfaces
* Tracking interfaces requirements for each environment
* Tracking environment status/usage
* Reporting to stakeholders based on their requirements i.e. usage, availability, status of environments etc
* Detecting changes to environments automatically using scripting or appropriate methods and tools
* Promoting of changes and communication with stakeholders as appropriate
* Work closely with stakeholders to coordinate and input into release management activity
* Work with the Service Transition Manager and IT Team to develop an effective CMDB.
* Work with Project Management and Operational Teams to manage and coordinate IT elements that require Service Transition expertise to ensure smooth delivery of change.
* Documentation of processes and Training appropriate resources including contributing to the development and implementation of standards and procedures.

Core Skill Set;

* Minimum 3 year experience with Scripting (e.g. VB Scripting and/or PowerShell)
* Minimum 3 year experience with administration of version control tools such as Perforce or SVN (subversion).
* A good knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle, ITIL Service Transition principles and the processes required for supporting them is essential.
* Basic knowledge or experience of automation tools such as Jenkins
* Demonstrable knowledge of configuration management, deployment and release management
* ITIL Foundation
* VMware
