As the Regional Operations Manager for a Nationwide Leading Plant Hire company you would be expected to deliver quality equipment and service to customers to maximise customer satisfaction, ensure repeat business and develop the clients brand whilst ensuring value for money and cost

The purpose of the role would be supporting Between 5 and 9 Depot Managers in the South Region and help with the smooth operating of each Depot by

• Maximise equipment availability in designated operations region by minimising equipment in repair and in collection. – Minimum expectation is under 3 day collection
• Ensure that Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) procedures are adhered to and improved upon to maximise customer satisfaction - Number of breakdowns within the first 3 days of a hire
All equipment must have a minimum of 100 hours running time on despatch before being due a service.
• Move equipment assets to the locations advise by the Fleet & Asset Director
• Ensure that equipment identified for sale is appropriately quarantined, prepared and ready for sale
• Support the depot network with fleet enquiries and demands to optimise revenue and utilisation
• Identify ‘idle’ plant and ensure that it is properly prepared for hire or sale, as advised by the Fleet & Asset Director
• Ensure the health, safety and welfare of personnel within the region is in accordance with the clients health and safety policy and SHEQ manual.
• All depots within region pass SHEQ, ISO and other audits
• Continually strive for improvement and promote this culture within the team.
• Ensure all company documentation under your remit is appropriately maintained and is available and easily accessible to all applicable staff.
• Ensure that equipment is properly serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Ensure that breakdowns are responded to within agreed SLAs and equipment downtime is minimised
• Ensure that an agreed spares stocking policy is in place which clearly identifies runner, repeaters and strangers, along with a system for management and control.

People Management

Provide support to depot managers on recruitment, induction, performance management, coaching and general people management
Making sure the Depot Manager is carrying out the training and development of engineers, depot managers, drivers and regional colleagues
Where relevant, manage and maximise performance from in-plant teams to ensure that outstanding service is provided to customers.
Ensure that adequate holiday cover is provided in the depots to maintain service delivery levels.

Depot Management

• Ensure all depots meet or exceed our clients 5S standards
• Ensure that overtime is managed within budget
• Ensure all other costs are managed within budget
• Working with senior management, help identify and assess potential new depots, as required.
• Standardise operations processes across the business.

Academic qualifications:
 Educated to degree level
 Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
 Clean driving licence

Knowledge/background:
• Minimum of 3 years regional operations experience overseeing a multi-location operation in a capital equipment based business.
• Minimum of 2 years as a depot manager in a capital equipment based business.
• Must have a technical aptitude; ideally a technical background is preferred.
• Track record of improving operations and continuous improvement.
• Proven team player who can work with multiple internal functions to deliver against company expectations.
• Competent level of knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experienced at communicating critical information to all levels within the business.
• Rental industry experience is not a pre-requisite requirement for this role.
