The South of England Rare Breeds Centre is a busy tourist attraction with more than 110,000 visitors a year and also provides valuable training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities enabling them to develop their animal management and customer service skills.
The Farm is a great day out to see traditional rare breed animals and is part of the Canterbury Oast Trust, a leading local charity providing high quality care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex.
We are looking to appoint a LIFE SKILLS TUTOR - ACCREDITED (FARM) on a permanent contract working 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday (8.30am - 4.00pm).
As a LIFE SKILLS TUTOR - ACCREDITED (FARM) working with the Life Skills Co-Ordinator (Farm) you will support the development of learning disabled students with planned learning and training to achieve their learning requirements and/or aspirations.
You will develop, deliver and evaluate accredited learning from the development of lesson plans and planning delivery at appropriate level of audience against a curriculum or syllabus set by the relevant awarding body.
You must have sound knowledge and a good range of practical skills across a broad spectrum of animal species including large farm animals. You will ideally hold a vocational qualification at least one level above the courses being delivered and a Level 2 Assessing Candidates or equivalent qualification.
