Our Dartford based client is looking for an experienced Office and Safety Manager for their busy office. It is essential that you hold NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications in order that you are confident in managing our clients Health and Safety strategy. This will include reviewing, developing, implementing and monitoring the Health & Safety Management systems in line with current Health & Safety and associated legislation.

In addition the successful candidate will support the Director by controlling all aspects of the office IT systems and facilities, you will therefore have excellent IT skills which will be complimented by your exceptional organisation and planning skills.

You will be expected to manage staff with an office environment, so your interpersonal and management skills should be second to none!

As you would expect in a role of this calibre, your duties and responsibilities will be numerous and variable. The list below are our client's vision of key responsibilities and duties:

* Understand the application of the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the Companies business;
* Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry;
* Ensure that all "assessments" as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain accurate records;
* Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
* Keep records of inspection findings, suggest improvements and implement agreed actions;
* Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards;
* Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation;
* To highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance;
* Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases;
* Immediately contact the Director responsible for health and safety if situations are found, that in the opinion of the Office & Safety Manager, require immediate rectification or the stopping of any operation;
* To bring new techniques for improving health, safety and welfare to the attention of the Director responsible for health and safety;
* Ensure all inspections are carried out to the required intervals in respect of LOLER, PAT testing, ladder inspection, first aid equipment and fire protection systems;
* To carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and to record the findings on the relevant forms and implement any corrective action;
* To control the vehicle fleet accident management system;
* Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy;
* Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks;
* Attend such courses/seminars run by external sources to enable accurate interpretation of legislation to enable implementation within the organisation;
* Produce management reports, newsletters and memos;
* Maintain company IT systems ensuring they are fit for purpose, being operated correctly and there is a sound business continuity programme in place to support the continued operation of the business;
* Control all aspects of the office facilities to ensure it operates in a secure, well presented and timely fashion.

Our client is offering a competitive £40,000 salary with a Mon -Fri 8am to 5pm working week.
