Due to our success, we are expanding and looking for a child focused, enthusiastic and passionate manager to open and run our new children’s home in Walmer, Kent.

Location: Walmer CT14

Salary Range: £28,000-£35,000 OTE (Dependent on qualifications and experience)

Permanent – Full Time (40 hours per week)

Purpose of Job:

To lead and develop a staff team to deliver a high standard of child focused care focusing on the individual needs and promoting positive outcomes for each child/Young Person we care for. We take a ‘holistic approach’ to our care ensuring each child/Young Person’s emotional, physical, social, and educational needs and development are supported and promoted at all times.

Job Context:

Back on Track Services Ltd ethos is to provide small family orientated homes to children and young people aged between 8-18 years old. We excel by having developed small, a friendly and personable staff team who work collectively in recognising and promoting the individual needs of each child placed in our care.

We have developed excellent relationships with parents, Local Authorities, social workers and outside professionals, working in partnership to deliver and oversee that each child’s care plan is facilitated, targets met and best achievements and positive outcomes promoted.

Registered Manager Requirements;

• NVQ /QCF level 5 Children and young people or Social Work qualification
• Proven track record working with in residential children’s care setting
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience of managing a residential children’s home
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a residential setting caring for children/Young People
• Shared on-call rota
• Driver preferred

Registered Manager Duties;

• The Registered Manager will have overall responsibility for the management and function of the home, the care of the children placed and the management and development of the staff team.
• Ensure that high standards care is always delivered and maintained
• Ensuring that safe and good practice is upheld at all times
• To be able to delegate tasks effectively and appropriately
• Ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to policies, of the home and those set out in Children's

Legislation and Regulations

• Ensure all staff adhere to and work within the homes policies and procedures
• Mentor and develop staff ensuring they are aware of a variety of intervention strategies regarding behaviour management.
• Oversee and ensure reviews and meetings concerning the children or staff are delivered within required time scales
• Ensure and evidence the effective delivery of individual care plans.
• Ensure the home has sufficient information accessible to all staff regarding access to support agencies and outside professionals that promote the health and well-being of each child in placement
• Ensure that the home functions in such a manner that staff, children understand, recognise and celebrate the diversity of cultures and beliefs within the local and wider community and society
• Work in collaboration with the Responsible Individual and Director to manage all employee relations within the home, as per Back On Track Services Ltd policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and data protection to ensure that records in the home are stored and held in a manner which is compliant with regulations
• Undertake and participate in any required training programmes and actively seeking to develop own CPD and that of its staff team
• Oversee/provide regular supervision as part of each staff members development and working practices
• Provide staff with sufficient information that ensures they understand the role of a key worker and devise monitoring systems, which will ensure this is delivered to a high standard.
• To oversee and ensure the children’s environment are of a good standard, safe and regularly maintained
Registered Manager will be responsible for;
• To safeguard the welfare, health, emotional well-being and safety of each child placed
• Ensure the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
• Ensure an environment in which each individual’s emotional and personal development needs are met including social, educational and leisure needs are promoted and supported
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Work in partnership with placing authorities, external professionals and families
• Promote and ensure anti-discriminatory practice at al times
• To ensure the identified personal, social, health and educational needs of each child/young person are continuously assessed and reviewed to comply with their care plan
• Promote and encourage the professional development of all staff
• Provide supervision, delegate and monitor supervision to identified members of staff, working in conjunction with the company’s Supervision and Personal Development policy
• Ensure staff are aware of and deliver the support required to children in placement
• To have systems and processes in place which all staff understand, and are compliant with Safeguarding and Child Protection under Children’s Regulations.
• Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained and monitored
• Produce and monitor reports to ensure they are delivered to a high standard.
• To participate in the safe recruitment, selection and induction of staff.
