Howletts Wild Animal Park works in conjunction with The Aspinall Foundation, a charity committed to active conservation on an international level through protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction by captive breeding and reintroduction programmes. The Park is an established visitor attraction located near Canterbury and we aim to give our visitors an unforgettable day out. Our Catering department run a number of outlets across the park providing customers with a variety of food options during their visit.

An experienced and commercially astute Assistant Manager with strong leadership skills is sought to assist in all Catering operations at Howletts Wild Animal Park. Reporting to the Catering Manager; the key responsibilities of the role is to manage the catering function and provide supervision for the Catering team to ensure the department’s business goals are achieved. You will also be responsible for making sure standards are met, with particular focus on; customer service, presentation standards, waste control, food quality and hygiene and cleanliness of the premises and staff. You will also ensure that optimum profits are achieved through the effective control of staffing levels, waste control, food portion control, and excellent customer service standards. Effective, efficient stock management across the department including ordering, delivering and rotation is essential.

We are looking for candidates with supervisory experience in the hospitality industry and/or visitor attractions. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, be profit orientated with a sound financial acumen, customer focused with excellent organisational skills and have a hands-on approach to management. We are looking for an individual who has a ‘can do’ attitude and is driving to succeed in a fast paced commercial environment. Excellent IT skills and a valid driving licence are essential. This role offers you the chance to develop your skills in an environment where no two days are ever the same.

The role is 40 hours a week, five days out of seven including working weekends and bank holidays. Working days and hours need to be flexible to meet the seasonal needs of the business.
