This position is salaried at £18,000 and you will be required to work a minimum of 35 hours per week. The working week will include mornings, evenings and weekends.

Senior Care Assistant Job Description

Reporting to: Care Manager - Care Co-ordinator - Senior Management

Purpose of Role & Responsibilities

The Senior Care Assistant must have respect, empathy and understanding. They are the provincial point between the office and the Personal Care Assistants and must ensure that all standards are kept to the highest level within the business. The Senior Care Assistants are responsible for delivering a level of care that is unique across the county, you will help to promote the business and have a positive attitude towards your role.

Senior Carer Assistants will work with the Company’s new recruits and enter into mentoring roles for them, helping them to learn from the very best we have to offer and ensure best practice and training is undergone to achieve the highest possible standards in care provision.
The Senior Care Assistants role will create close dedicated teams of individual Care Assistants, and will work around each individuals rotas & the rota’s set up by the Care Coordinator and Senior Carers, these will be over seen by the Care Manager.

Senior Carer Assistants will play a vital and key role in ensuring compliance is maintained by supporting the management, ensuring internal records are maintained to the required standards as well as ensuring all service user records are maintained and monitored to meet the CQC required standards. This will involve checking documents for completeness and accuracy, making sure all risk assessments are carried out and up to date.

The Senior Care Assistant role will be required to work closely alongside the Care Manager and Care Coordinator to ensure that clear, concise and detailed Care Plans are kept up to date and strictly adhered to.

Senior Care Assistants will be required to ensure home files are kept up to date, delivering monthly paperwork into the office for auditing.

Senior Care Assistants will be required to assist with spot checks when required.

Senior Care Assistants will be required to make sure both the Service User’s families and the office are aware of all changes and all records are kept up-to-date at all times.

Senior Care Assistants will continue to be driven by change, proactively seeking new ways to improve on existing methods and procedures utilised by the Company and will be actively looking for improvements to the Company’s existing policies and procedures looking for best practice improvements.

Senior Care Assistants must have the ability to inspire others, develop and support their teams and deliver crystal clear information that people understand and act on.

As a mentor, Senior Care Assistants must excel in their duties at all times, not least because they act as a role model to other staff, but Senior Care Assistants are at all times a face of the Company. As such they must present themselves in a professional and caring manner ensuring the needs of the Service Users, staff and the Company are met at all times.

Senior Care Assistants must drive and have their own transportation as they will be required to traverse the county to reach all and any Service User as required by the Company.

Senior Care Assistants will be required to preforming regular Service User visits to undertake any activity from provision of care, internal quality checks to defining and updating Service User care plans.

Senior Care Assistants will be required to assist with covering holiday calls when required to enable Personal Care Assistants to take annual leave.

Senior Care Assistants will require good IT skills or be willing to learn to undertake all aspects of their role.

Report changes to care packages to the office and ensure communications are passed on to team members within that package.
Ensure prescriptions are kept up to date within Service Users homes, that are unable to monitor this themselves.
Ensure computer systems are kept up to date which maintain the records for Service Users.
Work closely with the Care Coordinator ensuring all information flows through the Care Coordinator at all times.
Staff Responsibilities
Act as a mentor to appropriate staff within the territory
Ensure all new staff complete their allocated shadow visits, providing all relevant information and personalised information for each Service User to the new staff members
Ensure staff are signed off as fully competent to give medication by assessing and filling out the appropriate paperwork
Meet all Service Users and gain an understanding of all care plans
Undertake regular 1 to 1 meetings with staff as required
Look after the extra welfare of staff where possible
Attend/arrange with Care Co-ordinator regular team meetings.
Undertake training on the Company’s computer systems
Provide support to all staff across the territory

CARE PACKAGES

Ensure Service User files are collected monthly and returned the office for auditing and filing
Ensure PPE equipment is appropriately stocked up in Service User homes and with all staff members that are unable to get to the office
Assist management with completion of care plans
Assist management with care assessments
Ensure staff are fully compliant, liaising with the Care Coordinator to provide cover for training to be undertaken.
Provide assistance with signing care plans and other paperwork as required
Ensure monthly reports are completed as required
Ensure care plans are signed and up to date, ensuring any changes are made immediate as they are realised
Ensure risk assessments are up to date
Report any medication errors immediately to both the Care Coordinator and Care Manager ensuring appropriate actions are taken immediately to remedy and resolve the medication error.
Report any issues/crisis management to the appropriate Management
Ensure 111 reports are completed in a timely manner reporting both internally and externally to ensure compliance is maintained
Ensure any incidents are dealt with appropriately and Management is kept apprised at all times
Ensure hospital appointments are supported where necessary
Ensure all staff adhere to company policies and procedures.
