Job Description

Job Title: Warehouse Operative
Reports To: Supervisor
Group/Division: LCD/LPG
Career Band: Band I Associate
Location: Ashford UK
No. of Direct Reports: No Direct Reports
Key Relationships: Supervisor, Senior Warehouse Operative, Production, Manufacturing
Work Pattern: 5.45am – 14.15pm Inc. 30minutes unpaid lunch

Position Summary:

Effective preparation, delivery, collection and storage of work, as directed by the Distribution Supervisor, to ensure quality and accuracy of packing and accurate on-time shipments.
Supplying the packing benches with everything needed to run for the duration of the shift, including material, packaging, consumables, equipment and information. Effective packer of products to customer specification and in adherence to in-house quality, cycle time and process standards.

Key Accountabilities:

All required preparation, packing and clearance of completed packing boxes in a timely and effective manner in accordance with Job Specification Visual Aids and Standard Operating Procedures

Preparations for all upcoming jobs to take place in a timely and accurate manner and Distribution Supervisor informed on time. Delivery of all materials to the packing benches; ensure packers always have product ready for packing. All required preparations and clearance of completed pallet boxes in a timely manner from the packing benches.

Maintain the desired state 5S condition of the work area.

Timely updates of T-Cards to ensure process flow system functions accurately. Accurate printing of documentation e.g. Work Instructions, Labels, Visual Controls and reports.

Health and Safety standards are maintained. Issues are highlighted as and when they arise
to the Distribution Supervisor and indicated on Tier 1 board.
Accurate documentation to be completed where required

Attend handover meetings and other meetings as requested by the Distribution Supervisor and ensure that before products leave the site that quality assurance standards have been adhered to.

Identify and assist with reduction of the “7 wastes” within the Packing Department

Inform Distribution Supervisor as and when issues arise

Any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Essential: Good communication and IT skills
Good interpersonal skills
Observant, with an eye for detail
Commitment to improve processes
Ability to understand and clearly communicate working instructions.

Desirable: Box Packing Experience

This person must possess the following behavioral competencies and characteristics. Please note that these are regarded by Thermo Fisher Scientific as equally important to technical competencies and experiences. Someone who displays the right attitude and characteristics for the role will therefore be considered even if they lack technical expertise in one or two of the areas mentioned previously.
