Caretaker Role
CATS Canterbury is an independent international college with approximately 400 students from age 14 upwards and 100 plus staff. We’re part of Cambridge Education Group, and we benefit from being part of a forward looking organisation with a strong educational vision. You should be comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment and working amongst young people.
The role is for 45 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday.
A very hands-on proactive person is required. The post involves caretaking duties across 3 main buildings, all within walking distance of each other. You would be expected to open and close up the main college building, keep all grounds tidy and weed free, ensure inside and outside of buildings are well stocked and presentable. Conduct minor repairs, various regular cleaning duties, move desks, chairs, boxes, changing light bulbs etc walk around the buildings ensuring the buildings are safe and tidy doing regular checks of high footfall areas such as toilets and smoking areas . There is a maintenance team and a cleaning team who you would work alongside. It is a demanding role and needs a person with natural enthusiasm and energy who is able to work off their own initiative and prepared to go the extra mile. You need to be a strong team player, prepared to get your hands dirty, a strong service ethic, have a make it happen , positive, energetic attitude and have strong attention to detail. You should relish the opportunity to work in a student environment and deal with the challenges that brings . Previous experience is desirable but not essential, your attitude is more important!
We are offering a salary of circa £18,000 p/a and the position will start as soon as possible. We will be interviewing as applications come in.
The role would be subject to satisfactory references, visa if required and a satisfactory DBS check.
