We are currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter for a large organisation based in the Medway Towns to work initially on a temporary basis.
The position may lead to permanent employment for the right candidate.

The main purpose of the role is to carry out general vehicle and plant maintenance and repairs ensuring that work is undertaken to the required standard, and in accordance with relevant Health and Safety arrangements.

Specific duties are to ensure continuous safe working of vehicles and equipment by carrying out repairs and structured routine maintenance for plant & equipment.

Ensuring all relevant work is logged to comply with the Quality Manual, maintaining vehicle and equipment procedures and schedules.

Providing routine and emergency cover to repair or recover broken down vehicles and equipment.

Other duties will be to ensure workshop & stores are kept in a safe and tidy manner
Maintain stock levels of regularly used stores & parts. Liaise with management in regards to shortfall of stock, maintain vehicle filing system, ensure all paperwork is completed each day. Provide additional resource to the operations dept as and when required

The sucessful candidate will be an apprentice mechanic or mechanic who has experience running a workshop, with a minimum 2 years relevant experience, preferably in plant maintenance or equivalent. A good level of literacy and numerac and good communication skills. You will also be flexible and adaptable with the ability to accept change.

You will hold an NVQ, City & Guilds L1 or IMI equivalent in vehicle / plant mechanics. Be physically fit willing to work outdoors as required, hold possession of a current, manual driving licence plus trailer code.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 7.00am - 5.00pm, however flexibility to work weekends and evenings as part of normal duties and for the provision of emergency cover is required.
