Device Technician / Developer
Location - Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Salary - £ 45,000 - £ 55,000 + Excellent Benefits
Innovative and entrepreneurial insurance technology company which provides device configuration and programming for Telematics devices on a state of the art IOT Platform (Internet of Things) is seeking to recruit a Device Technician / Developer to join the group based in Tunbridge Wells.
This is a key role in a growing Telematics company with the opportunity to progress with the business. Ideally, the incumbent will have experience of the Telematics industry, be technically minded and adaptable to using emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on the specification and purchase of Telematics and IOT devices.
- Work closely with the development, sales and logistics teams to ensure the smooth running of operations.
- Responsible for decoding information from new devices and sensors into a format that can be read by the IOT core platform in the new setup.
- Provides technical support to the operation to resolve devices related issues.
- Co-ordinates firmware updates and testing activities for version upgrades.
- Provides input into the development process to ensure information is processed and stored in the most efficient manner.
- Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand and clarify technical design considerations.
- Liaises with device manufacturers to ensure appropriate information is transmitted from the device for processing.
- Production of technical documentation and instructions.
- Can work to agreed specifications where available and create any documentation that is necessary but missing from a delivery.
Key Competencies:
- Extensive experience of internet connected devices, preferably specialising in Telematics.
- Some exposure to .NET programming in C# is desirable.
- Familiar with low-level communication protocols and emerging standards for IoT devices.
- Expert in mobile sensors and able to assess their applicability to a business process.
- Flexible and pragmatic approach with experience of start-ups desirable but not essential.
- Work experience in telematics providers is extremely beneficial.
