We are now recruiting for a Head of Procurement based at our offices in Channel House, Dover.
Reporting directly to the Fleet Director, you will:
- Lead the procurement strategy and take full ownership of putting in place a robust end to end procurement process to effect change at all levels within the business
- Manage the procurement of high value, high risk projects, good & services required by the Fleet department (both revenue and capital) at the best full life value
For non-fleet expenditure, expand and embed the influence of Procurement, ensuring robust and effective procurement processes to deliver the best Business outcome.
- Assist departments with their procurement strategies and saving initiatives, challenging existing norms and working with our teams to help make the transition to a more effective delivery model
- Take personal responsibility for achievement of challenging savings targets, creating future pipeline savings programmes and strategies to maximize the effectiveness of the entire supply chain.
To be considered for this role, it is essential you have:
- Proven procurement leadership experience in a large and complex organization, operating in a matrix environment
- Undertaken procurement structure strategic reviews and delivered appropriate restructure programmes, aligning resources to business objectives
- Experience in managing significant expenditures in excess of £200m across all indirect categories
- Evidence of having created and delivered both tactical and strategic savings programmes, savings delivered via both matrix influence and direct delivery
- Hands on procurement and contract management expertise in a wide range of categories
- Degree education or equivalent in a relevant discipline or qualification by experience
- CIPS qualified by examination or equivalent relevant qualification
- Demonstrable experience in tactical contract management and legal issues concerning procurement contracts
- Managed budgeting, financial reports and business planning
- Experience of influencing at board level
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate a mature procurement team
- Ability to manage, motivate and communicate policy and requirements to a diverse cross functional team across the various divisions of the company
- High computer literacy with full windows suite
It would also be desirable if you have:
- Experience within a Marine and/or engineering organisation
- An understanding of environmental protection requirements and EU legislation impacting shipping
- Management skills and competencies honed through Continued Professional Development (CPD)
- Ability to deliver organisational change management and culture shift
- Ability to develop, motivate and influence others through a structured approach to problem solving/negotiations
- Ability to take account of the views of others but ultimately decide on way forward
- Experience of working with Unions in Industrial Relations.
