Knight Optical UK Ltd is a precision scientific optical component supplier and manufacturer based in Harrietsham, Kent. We are a fast paced, fast growing company that prides itself on customer service and quality products.
The role has been newly created and is seen as essential to the success of Knight Optical’s operational and service standards. This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic person who is highly organised with a pragmatic approach and able to provide a comprehensive and flexible service to the business.
Previous experience from a Manufacturing or Distribution industry would be beneficial.
Main Purpose of the Role:
The primary focus of the role is to plan and implement activities relating to the timely and cost-effective procurement while supporting operational areas of inventory, distribution and quality control.
The Senior Supply Chain Coordinator will take appropriate steps to maintain the department’s effectiveness and efficiency at all times while contributing to the development and execution of the supply chain strategy. You will be expected to establish and develop collaborative relationships with suppliers and customers to facilitate demand ensuring the best service for customers and lowest risk to business.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
• Orders will need to be planned, placed, confirmed and tracked from placement through to successful end delivery to our customers.
• Work with technical sales team to ensure product call-offs of nominated stock is cleared before contract expiry.
• Working to build strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate and achieve target margins.
• Evaluate order quantities and lead times with suppliers to ensure positive cash flow for the business.
• Supporting Senior Managers on new/existing projects relating to the supply chain process and procurement strategies.
• Supporting the maintenance of an up to date inventory system.
• Support in managing logistic and courier partners.
• Maintaining up to date internal records including supplier and customer database records.
• Day to day invoicing.
• Improve communication with suppliers and customers to ensure strong business relationships are maintained.
• Monthly Reporting.
• Communication with USA office and directors.
• Additional administrative/operational support as required to support the needs of the business.
Skills and Experience
• Competent with MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
• SAP experience advantageous.
• Experience in supply chain/purchasing.
• Ability to take ownership of activities and map out creative solutions for effective problem solving.
• Attention to detail is key alongside the ability to handle pressure.
• Self-motivated.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• An excellent telephone manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
