An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Hydraulic Modelling Team.
The successful candidate will ideally have knowledge and experience of the basic hydraulics of a distribution system and the ability to process both historical and specifically gathered company data in Excel, Mapinfo and similar formats.
The hydraulic modelling team uses InfoworksWS models to assess the impact of changes to the South East Water supply network using all mains models or strategic models where available. There is a constant need to update these models to reflect resource development, new infrastructure, capital maintenance and changes in demand patterns. We have recently embarked on a programme of in house model updates and are looking for an additional hydraulic modeller to assist with this.

The team work closely with Asset Planners, GIS Technicians, Engineering and Operations Teams as well as Developer Services and external consultants.
Responsibilities and duties will include:
* Carry out extensive model rebuild or updating as required using GIS, Scopex, Aquanet and pressure logging software.
* Demand assessments using billing data and other system metering.
* Discussions with operational staff to confirm current network configuration
* Site visits to determine functional calibration field tests.
Other duties may include:
* Assess developer enquiries with all mains InfoWorks models and arrange flow and pressure tests where necessary.
* Make recommendations for any reinforcement required to maintain levels of service and assisting Developer Services in their response to developers.
* Meet associated KPIs.
* Modelling/network assessment to support DG2 investigations and scoping of schemes within Asset Planning.
* Giving modelling support to other departments:
* Engineering: sizing pumps and providing information for surge analysis.
* Water Quality: age of water, source of supply, direction of flow
* Operations: managing planned work and emergency incidents.
* Leakage: leak detection, DMA reorganisation and pressure management.
The successful candidate will, as a minimum, hold A levels in maths, physics or geography or have knowledge of the distribution system. A degree is preferable but not essential.
This post is subject to a basic criminal record check.
In return, we offer a competitive salary, a minimum of 25 days annual leave, a stakeholder pension scheme in which the maximum Company contribution is 10% and a life assurance scheme.
