We are looking for a Managing Surveyor/Contracts Manager for our Whitstable office working for a Building Contractor who specialise in insurance repairs to both private and commercial properties (mainly domestic) you will be responsible for managing Insurance Based Building Repairs overseeing the relevant trades from start to completion of the works and
Job role and responsibilities
Working as part of a small repairs team as the Contracts Manager you will have the following responsibilities (with admin and day to day site supervision support) on jobs from about £2k - £150k
•Ensuring an excellent customer service when visiting client’s homes
•Checking scopes that have been carried out already and revising where necessary
•Loading details onto the relevant client system and booking in the relevant trades (direct labour or from approved sub-contractor list)
•Raising variations where necessary
•Carrying out joint site visits with loss adjusters where necessary
•Making sure clients are kept up to date on the progress of the works
•Checking progress of works and carrying out audits if necessary
•Managing CDM requirements and preparation of Health and Safety files for each project
Sometime will also be spent in the office dealing with the relevant contract administration
What skills/experience will you need?
A SMSTS qualification is required for the position or alternatively training can be provided. For this Contracts Manager role you will need to have a proven track record of managing works on private domestic properties repairs (ideally having had experience working in the insurance repairs industry). You will need an excellent knowledge of trades and relevant costs within this industry and be able to understand/interpret schedule of works. You will need to have experience in managing works/trades staff to ensure a project is finished on time and within budget
If you have experience/knowledge of Symbility & Xactware that would be highly beneficial for this role (not essential).
Excellent customer service, organisational and PC skills are required along with an understanding of the SLA’s required with an insurance repairs project. You should be prepared to spend sometime in the office as well as out on the field.
Package details
In addition to the Contracts Manager salary (negotiable dependent upon experience around £30k) you will receive a company car or car allowance, mobile, pension etc
