Do you have experience as a Technical Manager within an engineering / pharmaceutical discipline?

Our established manufacturing Client based in Kent is currently seeking a skilled Manufacturing Support Group Manager / Pharmaceutical Support Group Manager to join their team. Suitable candidates will have technical experience (engineering or scientific) within the pharmaceutical industry at management level.

Duties as the Manufacturing Support Group Manager / Pharmaceutical Support Group Manager:
• Develop/lead Manufacturing Operations Support Group to include:
o Process Engineering
o Commissioning
o Qualification
o Validation activities (including Automation)
o Technical Transfer
o Project Management
o Technical Support
o Continuous Improvement with objective to improve Production Department/Manufacturing Operations group performance
• Implement/develop new/existing processes and/or product lines and optimise current processes
• Project manage/project support design and build of new facilities design/install of new plant/equipment
• Look to continuously improve both efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing processes and associated systems to help meet the future needs of the business
• Develop/lead Technical Transfer process for new product transition into internal Production facilities and/or external Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs)
• Lead the team to provide Technical Support to Production and the wider Manufacturing Operations groups. Provide resolution and support to manufacturing or process issues, process optimisations and process improvements
• Ensure systems and processes conform to all relevant EH&S, cGMP and Validation requirements
• Develop site Automation and Control systems to improve the Quality and Efficiency of internal processes and business systems. To adopt best practices in Automation to continue to improve performance
• Support the delivery of company/site objectives to the required Quality, Regulatory and EH&S standards
• Where required deputise for and sign off relevant documentation in place of Head of Production
• Manage technical team of various skill sets/competencies in order to meet key and critical Production Department, Manufacturing Operations Group and wider business objectives
• Liaise with Production Departments key Points of Contact, (POCs), in order to provide technical expertise for qualification, validation, production troubleshooting and process optimization activities
• Utilise team competencies in order to provide process expertise for the evaluation of process risk assessments and HAZOPs
• Continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing technical support
• Root cause Analysis support/troubleshooting
• Project Management
• Process description and identification of Critical Process Parameters and Key Process Parameters (CPPS and KPPS).
• Ensure all team’s activities meet all relevant EH&S and Quality standards


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required to be considered for the role of Manufacturing Support Group Manager / Pharmaceutical Support Group Manager:

• Educated to Degree level in a Scientific or Engineering discipline
• A background in Process or Chemical Engineering is desirable
• Experience as a Technical Manager
• Demonstrated track record of leading a team/managing people.
• Will have a demonstrated track record with relevant experience working in a regulated industry preferably in Pharmaceuticals.
• Recent and extensive experience of working in the Process or Pharmaceutical Industry. Working in a cGMP or regulated industry would be preferable
• Project Management experience.
• Good oral, written and presentation skills essential
