Our client, a very successful educational establishment based in the Ashford area, has asked us to help recruit a Science Technician (term time only) to commence work in September 2017.

Responsibilities:

To be able to form and maintain positive relationships with children and young people enabling them to access and engage with the curriculum and social activities of the Academy.
Contribute effectively to teaching & learning for all students through on-going and robust planning, monitoring and recording.
To maintain the behaviour policy of the Academy and uphold the high expectations and high standards the Academy sets.
To be proactive in raising aspirations and expectations of all students through personal presentation, quality engagement and the imparting of knowledge.
Assistance in the maintenance, repair and stock control of equipment, textbooks and chemicals under the direction of the Senior Science Technician.
Contribute effectively to the learning environment, undertaking tasks such as updating relevant displays and ensuring pupil/student work is celebrated.
Assist with the undertaking of safety checks and understanding of safety policies and procedures.
Participate in ensuring safe storage, disposal and transportation of chemicals.
Where necessary undertake general administrative duties (e.g. photocopying and word processing) in the Science Department.
Prepare cultures, plates, solutions and gases in accordance with a known procedure and dispose of biological waste as required by health & safety.
Maintain clean and safe science areas. Liaise with the caretaker to ensure cleaning of laboratories and preparation rooms.
To complete or undertake, to the standard required, any other tasks or duties as required by the Director of Science and the Senior Leadership Team.*

To contribute and be part of the Christian ethos of The Academy and be positive towards the Academy’s goals. This position must enjoy completing their work in a professional and positive manner, relish solving problems and take pride in helping people.
To communicate effectively, professionally and in a friendly manner with staff, pupils/students and parents.
To be an ambassador for the Academy in dealing with external persons, and to be an admired and respected member of the team by internal staff and pupils/students.
To enjoy helping others and be able to cope with work pressure points, disruptions and things going wrong in a professional, calm and measured manner.
To be highly motivated and to have a flexible approach towards work and working hours.
To be willing and enthusiastic in undertaking continuing professional development.
This position will be temporary initially (paying £60.00 per day) but will be on-going to permanent with a potential permanent salary on a scale from £14,568 - £16,649 (pro rata).

Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

The client will be holding interviews on 17th and 24th August.
