Job Description

Working within the Security Engineering , and Operations team for an industry leading insurer where your contribution will make a significant difference, you will provide technical and functional leadership to the security engineering team, overseeing the delivery of the team`s responsibilities, and working with third party suppliers to ensure security services are delivered to the necessary standards.

As a senior within the team you will be the SME, and lead on key projects, acting as an escalation point and have the chance to develop more junior team members.

Your duties as a Senior IT Security Engineer will include but not be limited to the following:
-Responsible for managing all aspects of the security engineering team, ensuring staffing levels, responsibilities and the development needs of staff are identified and planned.
-- Ensure that security engineering team appropriately represented and participates in service introduction activities, validating that new company services meet all operational security requirements
-- Responsible for ensuring that security engineering maintain high levels of technical oversight of all security tools and infrastructure services in use throughout the company estate.
-- Working with third parties to continually improve and mature the services delivered to company, and engineering recommendations are incorporated into technical delivery roadmaps.
-- Overseeing the vulnerability management service, ensuring that each stage of the lifecycle runs effectively and management information is delivered to all key stakeholders.
-- Responsible for the availability and stability of all internal company security tools or infrastructure.
-- Delivery of a robust firewall access request process that operates within agreed lead times and meets the needs of the business.
-- Development and maintenance of key performance indicators that provide a view over the effectiveness of the security engineering function and status of technical security controls.
-- Providing weekly and monthly reporting of the status of security engineering across the company estate, highlighting risk areas and working to develop remediation plans as required.
-- Maintaining up-to-date detailed knowledge of information security including security solutions, security processes and new attacks and threat vectors.
-- Collaborating with the Security Architecture team to report appropriate operational issues that may be resolved at an architecture level.
-- Working with the Threat Intelligence team to identify opportunities for security controls optimisation in line with threats affecting technology services.

The Successful Applicant

The Senior IT Security Engineer expert that I am looking for will have a comprehensive background in IT Security, within a large scale business, working with multiple third party suppliers.

You will have a solid technical background and be able to challenge suppliers, and be happy with a role that is a mixture of both hands on, and off duties.

You will have a degree in a relevant field, as well as industry recognised certifications such as CISM or CISSP.

Communication skills are key, as is a pro-active approach, and you must be confident dealing with stakeholders at all levels.

You will have hands on experience with security stools such as IDS. IPS, Firewalls, Blue Coat and Proxy, and it would also highly desirable to have Web Application, Skybox, or Cloud experience,
