SECURITY CONSCIOUS CCTV Operator - Operational Support Grade (OSG)
Medway Secure Training Unit, HMP Rochester: Long-term ongoing Temporary Contract.
Shift Working based on £11.75 per hour *inclusive of Holiday Pay.

Overview of the Kent positions:
As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service & Medway Secure Training Centre for the provision of Security Support Operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit CCTV Operators - Operational Support Grades (OSGs) for Medway Secure Training Unit based at Rochester Prison in Rochester, Kent.
Immediate starts, if you are already Prison Cleared and hold a clear enhanced DBS Certificate.
The requirement is ongoing on a temporary basis, with no set end date, but expected to last over well over 6months.
The role is based on a Shift pattern, including early, late, weekend and night shifts, on a rolling 9 week rota. On average working a 40 hours week.
The rate is £11.75 per hour (£10.26 plus £1.49 Holiday Pay) for all scheduled rota hours - regardless of Days, Nights or Weekends worked. Additional weekday overtime is paid at £14.14 and additional weekend overtime is paid at £18.17 per hour.

Purpose of the OSG / CCTV Operator role:
As part of the Security Team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the Young Offenders Institute Training Centre.
Duties will include CCTV operation, booking in of staff and visitors, issuing keys to staff, radio operation, escorting visitors and gate duties within the unit and prison areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment.
You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment. Room Emergency Control Room & Switchboard duties
Shift Pattern consisting of earlys, lates, mains, weekends, nights £11.75 per hour for all scheduled rota hours
CCTV operation Radio Handling
Routine administrative work - Booking in Visitors & Staff Checking & Searching Staff, Visitors & contractors
Supervised when Issuing Keys to Staff
Supervision of visitors & contractors on site
Searching Buildings & Patrolling perimeter and grounds
Searching prisoners property, Canteen and kit exchange duties
Health & Safety Procedures

Experience:
No formal qualifications are required for this role, although previous security experience and CCTV operation would be desirable. The nature of the OSG role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills.

Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, Building relationships and team working, communicating effectively, developing self and others.Full training is provided by the establishment/ department.

Security Clearance required:
Immediate start if you are already Prison Cleared and hold a clear DBS certificate.
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 6 weeks, this will include a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS/ CRB) check, which must be completely clear.

You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address.
