Employing over 250 people, across three sites in the UK, Aeromet International Ltd is a major supplier of investment and sand castings to the Aerospace and Defence industries. With over 200 customers worldwide and 40 years’ experience, we are continuously developing techniques and processes that enable us to form unique and lasting partnerships with the biggest names in industry.
With manufacturing facilities in Rochester & Sittingbourne, Aeromet’s Kent sites produce parts for military and civil aircraft, defence and auto sport industries and are a major supplier to Boeing and Airbus; supplying parts to every Airbus variant. We are growing, with a current turnover of £10 million per year, which is set to increase to £15 million by the end of 2020.
The Rochester facility specialises in the production of pressure tight jet fuel connectors, whilst Sittingbourne specialises in larger products such as aerodynamic surfaces and fuel pumps. We have a variety of in-house capabilities including CAD, 3D Printing, Chemical / Mechanical Testing, X/Ray, Penetrant Flaw Detection, Full Machining and Solidification Modelling.
We are currently seeking to recruit apprentices who will undertake a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Metal Processing & Allied Operations in conjunction with SEMTA. This is a 3 year programme during which Apprentices will work in a structured environment experiencing & learning all aspects of our manufacturing process, gaining an understanding of the process and of the technical requirements, challenges and developments.
Apprentices will specialise in the casting process and post cast processes of fettling and heat treatment to become skilled and experienced engineers. This will then lead on to the opportunity to become a fully skilled engineer / technician / team leader or operative.
Qualifications / Skills Required:
◾ GCSE Maths Grade A-C or equivalent
◾ GCSE English Grade A-C or equivalent
◾ Strong aptitude for science, maths and problem solving
Personal Attributes Required:
◾ A good communicator
◾ Technical hands on aptitude
◾ Attention to detail
◾ Good timekeeper and reliable nature
Hours of Work:
37.75 per week Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 16.00 and Friday 07.30 to 13.15
Weekly Wage:
Start rate £3.50 per hour
Upon successful completion of 3 month probationary period £4.00 per hour
After 1 years’ continuous service - £5.60 per hour (or equivalent minimum wage for workers age 18 to 20 inclusive)
After 2 years’ continuous service - £7.05 per hour (or equivalent minimum wage for workers aged 21 years or more)
If anyone is over 21 or 25 upon commencing the apprenticeship, after 1 years continuous employment remuneration will increase to the relevant minimum wage.
