We are on the lookout for a steel estimator with steelwork and architectural metalwork experience which I have attached a job specification for each position. We do appreciate we are searching in a very niche market and we are only interested in seeing candidates who currently live in the Kent area.

Our Client has steadily grown becoming an established metal fabrication company operating in the general construction industry and specialising in the rail (overground and underground) sector.

Their product range includes structural steelwork, architectural metalwork (Including feature staircases and balustrading), general steelwork refurbishment and repair works to structures.

All works are bespoke, and to meet client requirements, we pride ourselves on a high level of project management, including close collaboration from the initial design phase, to develop design intents into workable solutions.
Due to an increasing order book, we are seeking pro-active individuals with suitable experience in the steel industry to join our project teams based at our Sittingbourne, Kent works.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• To work alongside the existing team of 3 estimators to prepare tender bids and financial estimates ranging from £5,000 to £2 million.
• To analyse the content of tender specifications and drawings and use the information identified to build a cost schedule suitable for use as a formal tender bid.
• To coordinate the preparation of al supporting documentation required in the tender bid.
• To communicate with clients regarding the tender and to present the final submission to the client.
• To assist in the pre order negotiation process with the client.
• Value engineering – to propose alternatives to specifications in order to reduce cost and / or improve quality and efficiency.

Candidate Requirements:
• At least 5 years experience of estimating
• Ability to undertake a reasonable level of technical and financial calculations
• Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent IT and numeracy skills.
• Excellent time management

Salary:
Negotiable depending upon experience plus bonus, and pension. The position is based in Sittingbourne, Kent and there will be a need for visits to London and throughout South East.
