Position Expectations
The Restaurant Manager manages all the catering service areas for residents and visitors. He or she must ensure that customer care and service are delivered in a consistent and profitable way, and that the home operates to the agreed standard regarding the catering service, whilst also ensuring that all Health and Safety measures are in place and adhered to within their area of responsibility. A key person in delivering excellent food service, the Restaurant Manager will get to know customers’ likes and dislikes, and will liaise regularly with the Care Services Manager to ensure all hydration and nutritional needs are met at all times.

Key Duties
• Ensure that every mealtime is an outstanding dining experience and that all diners are aware of the choices available to them.
• Ensure that all catering service areas comply with the Health and Safety requirements.
• Maintain efficient stock control to ensure that the highest quality of service possible is provided and have sufficient stocks available to provide for every meal service while not overstocking, for example, crockery, glassware, coffee and so on.
• Agree and constantly monitor the performance of the catering service to ensure profit targets and service levels are achieved.
• Provide customers with the required hydration requests in accordance with individual care plans.
• Help with the collation of individual customer care plans in relation to their food and nutritional requirements
• Liaise with other departments, in particular the Activities Manager and the Care Services Manager, to provide imaginative and interesting themes for special events, festive requirements, parties, al fresco dining, buffets and so on, and participate in social events such as birthday and welcoming parties, and monthly themed meals.
• Ensure that all service employees are fully trained and follow the Catering Departmental Guideline.
• Ensure residents are listened to and appropriate action is taken with regard to specific requests.
• Supervise service staff and ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained at all times.
• Become involved with the management and members in a food forum.
• Ensure that residents are able to consult with the service staff and give feedback on the meals served.
• Ensure temperatures of food delivered are correct: temperatures of food to be hot if hot and cold if cold.
• Deal with complaints or matters of concern whether arising from residents, relatives, staff or others in a sympathetic and understanding manner.
• Attend initial and update mandatory training as required. Actively engage in personal professional supervision including quarterly one-to-one meetings and a yearly performance review, ensuring personal professional knowledge and competency is maintained.
• Work flexibly within contracted hours to ensure resources are used efficiently and, where chosen, sign an opt-out clause under Working Time Directives.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
