SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER
The Kent Autistic is a well-respected specialist provider of services for adults with autism, with Outstanding ratings from CQC . We now have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Support Worker to join us at our Residential Centre in Faversham.
WHAT IS NEEDED TO BE A SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER
As a Senior Support Worker you will need effective line management skills as you will deputise for Team Leaders, and will also be responsible for controlling petty cash.
On a day to day basis you will be providing support and care for the people we support with the aim of helping them to be as independent as possible and to achieve their personal potential.
Thereâs no such a thing as a typical day, every day is interesting and varied. From providing personal care or emotional support to supporting someone in the community with food shopping or social activities such as swimming, eating out or attending healthcare appointments. You will be providing support that makes a real difference to peopleâs lives.
There is also some important admin to do as well, such as dispensing and recording medicines for the people you support, along with updating support records on our computer system.
Whatever your day includes, as a Senior Support Worker youâll need to be patient, caring and a great communicator. Youâll also need to work well as part of a team and be happy speaking to other healthcare professionals and family members of the person youâre supporting.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar senior role and have the following experience and qualifications:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
A positive and compassionate attitude towards care
Energetic approach to support with social activities
Excellent communication skills
Willingness to learn
Team player
Previous work experience as Senior Support Worker/Team Leader
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
Experience of working in challenging behavior services
NVQ Level 2 or higher in Health and Social Care (Adults)
Experience and/or knowledge of epilepsy
Hold a full driving licence and be willing to drive
