Job Summary
As a Technician in the Engineering Division, you will assist the Management team in ensuring that the Board’s assets are maintained and repaired effectively, efficiently and to the appropriate standards of safety. The post holder will be a technical specialist, having the ability to diagnose and rectify faults of a complex nature and work on their own initiative.
The Technician will:
• Carry out improvement, maintenance and repair works.
• Undertake technical / statutory inspections.
• Liaise with others in the team regarding plant or equipment failures, identifying recurring faults and suggesting practical solutions.
• Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with risk assessments and statutory requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering
• Indentured Trade apprenticeship and 3 years’ non-port related experience or 1 year port related post trade-qualification experience.
• Technical specialist knowledge in a wide range of plant and equipment
• Building services experience including lifts, escalators, HVAC and their management systems
• C&C BS7671 –17thEdition
• Knowledge of PLC systems and programming
• Hydraulic experience
• Welding/fabrication experience
