MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To work closely with the existing team and internal customers to develop an in depth understanding of their business requirements for IT services and systems.
Work with the internal customer to produce a system specification and from this develop their requirements either in the form of a Database/Website/Other application
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE & TEAM
This position is key in our Business Systems department, with the main function being applications development. The team is currently 4 strong, consisting of 1 Systems Support Analyst, 1 Systems Application Developer, 1 Web Developer and is overseen by the Head of Business Systems, who holds overall responsibility for the performance. You will be a team player but also happy to work alone when required, with sound technical and development skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Understanding Business Requirements
• Meet with key stakeholders to understand their requirements for both existing and new systems
• Produce system specification/change control documents for sign off
Application Development
• Work with various technologies to produce the applications required from the specification you have produced
• Work closely with the existing team to develop additional skills and knowledge
Technical Support
• Where required provide technical support for company IT users
• Train out new systems that you have developed to users
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
• Must have a passion for application development and be able to demonstrate this
• Strong communication skills
• You must be a team player
• Well presented
• Willingness to learn
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
ESSENTIAL:
• Relevant university degree or equivalent – e.g. BSc in Computer Science or similar
• Awareness of commercial practices
• JavaScript / PHP
• HTML/CSS
• SQL Server 2012
• VBA
• Current and valid driving licence as travel to other sites will be required.
DESIRABLE:
• General technical skills for assisting users
• Knowledge of Active Directory
