Temporary to Permanent Position: Warehouse Team Leader
£9.50 per hour *inclusive of Holiday pay
Based at Sheppey Prison: Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey, Kent ME12 4AX
Full Time 38 hours per week: Monday to Thursday 8am - 5pm, Friday 8am - 3pm

Overview of the position:
As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit x3 Warehouse Team Leaders, based at Sheppey Prison. As part of the Order Distributers Team you will be responsible for the distribution of orders to prisoners within a fast paced warehouse environment. You will work closely with Supervisors to manage small groups of prisoners (order picking staff) in your team. Purpose of the role: As part of the Order Distributers Team you will be responsible for the distribution of orders to prisoners. You will also work closely with Supervisors to manage all prisoners (order picking staff) in your team.

* To ensure the safe, efficient and accurate distribution of orders and stock to prisoners.
* Work closely with Supervisors to manage all prisoners (order picking staff).
* Assisting Workshop Supervisor in supervising prison inmates to carry out these functions.
* Assist the Workshop Supervisor with local project management where applicable.
* Co-ordinate the delivery of accurate and timely dispatch of orders to prisoners.
* Leading and motivating a group of prisoner's
* To reconcile orders received into the workshop against orders picked and dispatched on a daily/weekly basis.

Scope of the role:
Assist the Workshop Supervisor in managing a team of prisoners as appropriate by ensuring that each team member has the skill required to carry out their job role.

* Assist with the co-ordination the dispatch orders to prisoners.
* Ensure orders are distributed within the agreed times.
* Comply with all Prison Service regulations, including security.
* Ensure all delivery queries are reported to Workshop Manager/Supervisors.
* Ensure all relevant operational documents are completed accurately/timely
* Handling stock with care and consideration to minimise damages.
* Ensure the returns procedure is followed in the event of stock being damaged or an unfulfilled order at distribution.
* Ensure that all daily duties, procedures and processes are completed and adhered to on a day to day basis to ensure a high level of service is received by the customer.
* Full compliance to all Health and Safety regulations, ensuring that all Health & Safety policies and procedures within their areas of responsibility are complied with and fully maintained.
* Observe personal and product hygiene requirements in line with legislation at all times, and adopt a "clean as you go" attitude within the work environment.
* Ensure agreed KPI's are met.

Experience & Desirable Characteristics:
A background in warehouse and or supervising a team would be desirable. Successful applicants will have a background in logistics, customer services, security or the prison service.

* No formal qualifications are required for this role
* Physically fit - capable of manual handling and lifting 14.99Kg
* Living locally to Sheerness, Kent
* Available Full Time 38 hours per week: Mon to Thurs 8am - 5pm, Friday 8am - 3pm
* Competent using a computer, and able to input basic data entries
* Security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks
* Willing to undergo Security Clearance & Criminal Records Check
* Reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills
* Ability to remain calm and diffuse potentially volatile situations.
* Methodical attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to work as part of a team & willing to learn
* Accurate completion of paperwork. Simple math calculations and literacy
* Flexibility with regard to shift and rota working
* Ability to understand and carry out instructions
* Working within security and H&S rules
* Use own initiative to solve problems and proactively implement the solution

Security Clearance required:
All applicants will be subject to and will need to pass the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 8 weeks, this can include a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You must hold a Valid Passport OR Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. You must be able to provide at least x2 Proof of address documents and National Insurance Proof. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
