Job Description
Working within the compliance and legal department of a niche insurer, your role will be to assist the compliance manager with providing general compliance advice and guidelines to the business, communicating relevant procedures and policies, managing regulatory change and submissions, and delivering the overall compliance business plan.

Your duties as a compliance officer will include but not be limited to the following:
-Monitor new regulatory mandates, rules and requirements, ensure that compliance policies are kept up to date and that revisions are disseminated in a timely manner
-Design and implement compliance training and educational programmes; actively participate in management training, including new starter induction programmes
-Assist in the oversight of compliance processes to ensure appropriate advice in relation to regulatory matters is provided to the business in an effective and efficient manner
-Provide advice on compliance with applicable laws and regulations to the business, for example in the form of policies and procedures or written updates
-Assess the possible impact of any regulatory development on the operations of the business and work with the business with regard to compliance
-Be a point of contact for managers and employees regarding compliance related queries
-Review and assist with the sign off of financial promotions and advertising literature for company, Appointed Representatives and agents, reinforcing core compliance values across the business
-Provide advice and guidance on how to remain compliant within appropriate current FCA, PRA, DPA/GDPR and Financial Crime regulations including Financial Sanction requirements for the UK while ensuring that the strategic developments of the business are met
-Keep up to date on any changes to the regulatory General Insurance rules and regulations and assist with their implementation and provide plain English version of the regulations where appropriate
-Conduct compliance monitoring reviews and audits based on audit schedule and ad hoc requirements as required by the Internal Auditor or line manager
-Review completed audits and follow up on any recommendations made
-Assist with the production of management information for regulatory reporting and Board reporting purposes
-Perform regular checks and work to timescales in accordance with the Compliance Processes and task system
-Perform themed visits when required on any of the areas of concern within the business
-Produce detailed reports and propose recommendations and action plans

The Successful Compliance Officer
It is essential that you come from a compliance role within the insurance industry, and possess a solid regulatory and commercial awareness, alongside first class communication skills.

You will be a team player with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels, as well as be confident in presenting to people at a senior level.

This role may require some travel to other UK locations, including regular visits to Kent, so you must be flexible to the needs of the business for this.

You will ideally have a related professional qualification such as ICA Diploma.
