About the role;

As Packaging Technologist you will work within a vibrant and energetic team to deliver world class packaging in a challenging environment. You will be responsible for developing packaging that is innovative and legally compliant in line with the activity plan and wider business objectives.
A varied and dynamic role with exposure to a range of packaging formats and materials sourced from all over the world, our team enjoy freedom and autonomy to innovate whilst being supported by the management team.
The Packing Technologist role requires management of multiple projects in a fast paced environment working to tight timings and delivering against expectations.


Duties involved in the role:
• Working closely with marketing, purchasing and sales teams, as well as other stakeholders to identify , develop, trial and deliver insightful and innovative packaging solutions aligned to company standards.
• Responsible for controlling production and quality standards.
• Identifying and choosing products from suppliers.
• Attend and contribute to all project meetings, and briefings as required
• Responsible for enabling more products to be sold due to insightful, innovative and protective packaging.
• Responsible for the packaging development process including sampling, specifying, factory trials, and ensuring alignment to product and business suitability, as well as legal and brand compliance.
• Ensure that packaging solutions are landed by engaging with the relevant stakeholders at the right time and communicating clearly and credibly with stakeholders at all levels.
• Responsible for supporting continual improvements to ways of working, processes, and documentation
• Drive the quality agenda by working towards defined minimum packaging specifications for each project, and creating the necessary documentation and toolkits to communicate this to clients
• Work closely with all stakeholders to reduce the damage and returns rate
• Identify and scope projects to deliver against the packaging team target such as damage and returns reductions, packaging rationalisation and/or reduction and increasing space efficiency.
What you’ll need;
• Proficient in Microsoft EXCEL
• Credible with ability to inspire, energise and influence all levels
• Strong project management skills
• Commercial acumen
• Ability to shift thinking between big picture and day to day issues
• Customer champion
• Ability to work at pace and multi-task
