Family Support Worker
Demelza South East London
Band 4 Equivalent

• Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
• Part Time – average of 25 hours per week over a 2 week period (9am-5pm, every Monday to Wednesday, and 9am-2pm, every other Thursday)

Demelza Hospice Care for Children is a charity providing hospice services for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and support for their families across Kent, East Sussex and South East London.

Working as part of the Family Support Team, you will provide support to families of children and young people referred to Demelza.

You will have significant experience of direct work with children, young people and families with a clear understanding of the issues which they face. You will have a qualification relevant to social work or social care, (DipSW/NVQ desirable), with a proven record of supporting families in the community setting and/or in the family home.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of organisation and the ability to manage and re prioritise a changing workload. You will have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in your work.

You will have a tactful approach to problem solving, with the ability to maintain a professional approach at all times.

A valid driving licence is essential for this role; you will be required to undertake travel throughout the Demelza region.

Flexibility of working hours will be required, to include occasional evenings and weekend working.
