The Firm

Hardman and Watson is a high-street firm operating in Broadstairs offering full services for private clients undertaking family law, residential property, trusts and wills and probate and for businesses, commercial property.

Overview of the vacancy

This will be a part time position starting in September, initially the position will cover maternity leave of our current residential property solicitor. After which, the role will continue on a part time basis in conjunction with our current residential property solicitor.

We are seeking a Residential Property Solicitor or CILEX/CLC qualified Conveyancer with a minimum of 1+ years post qualification experience in residential property. Reporting to the Senior Partner and Head of Property, the successful candidate will handle a varied caseload including freehold and leasehold conveyancing sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, equity release, Help to Buy ISA schemes, Rights to Buy, Shared Ownership Schemes and lease extensions.

You will be fully supported by an experienced legal assistant and secretary within the Property department, and be able to work effectively with other departments.

Job Purpose

• To provide professional and competent legal advice and services in accordance with the SRA Code of Conduct

• To generate income in accordance with agreed targets

• To operate effectively within financial guidelines with particular regard to cash flow control through collection of monies on account and
billing procedures

• To assist in developing new services, as and when required

• To assist colleagues in fee earning matters during absence and periods of high work load

• To delegate and contribute to the development of others, where appropriate e.g. Legal Assistants

• To keep knowledge and skills up to date and to comply with all training requirements required by the position

• To carry out any other reasonable tasks and duties as may be requested.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• At least 1+ years previous conveyancing experience

• Excellent technical ability and organisational skills

• Experience of running own caseload

• Supervisory experience

• Demonstrable ability to meet targets

• Excellent IT skills with the ability to do own typing, if necessary

• Be able to handle matters at all stages of a conveyancing transaction, whether pre-exchange, exchange, completion and post completion

• Excellent inter-personal, customer service and team working skills

• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
