JOB PROFILE: Market Analyst
REPORTS TO: Head of Central Category & Pricing

With a turnover of over £2.6bn, Brakes Group is a leading supplier to the foodservice industry in the UK, Ireland, France and Sweden. The group comprises a family of specialist businesses which are able to deliver everything the caterer needs, including their very successful own brand ranges developed specifically for chefs.
Purpose Statement:
To use detailed analysis to identify local opportunities to drive additional margin across our Independent business. To maintain a sustainable model of competitor pricing at a SKU / basket level and provide insight to the Pricing and Category teams on Brakes` relative position plus opportunities either to margin up and/or drive volume.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

- Build and run a model to analysis Independent customer discounts versus ``ideal`` position and to recommend changes accordingly.
- Build and run a model to identify local prices that are below the market minimum and recommend local increases.
- Support the Independent Pricing Manager to deliver these increases in the field.
- Manage the collation of competitor prices from field sales invoices and their subsequent processing via our partner company in India.
- Monthly review of web prices from key competitors - track over time.
- Weekly review of top 40 KVI lines in Independent with recommendation.
- Build and maintain the competitor pricing database
- Ad hoc team & department projects requiring modelling & analytics

Knowledge, Skills, Experience
Essential:

- Expert on analytical systems (e.g. Excel, VBA, SQL).
- Analytical background.

Desirable:

- Product knowledge.
- Basic commercial acumen.
- Python
