Southern Salads is a hugely successful privately owned family run business based in the heart of Kent. The company has a turnover of £42m and employs approximately 300 people across our multi-site facilities. We have grown to being a key supplier to retail and foodservice markets in the UK. We are now recruiting due to exciting expansion plans through our 2017 Retail Innovation programme.


Outline of the role
To work as part of the Customer Service team to ensure that all contacts into the business are provided with the excellent service that has become connected with Southern Salads. You will achieve this by dealing with customers in a confident and professional manner. You will ensure that orders and queries are accurately and efficiently processed by working in partnership with our various departments ranging from Transport to Production.


Criteria for success
• Answering calls from customers and suppliers in a timely and professional manner, ensuring that all details are accurately recorded.
• Processing daily purchase orders received via fax and email onto our system and printing hard copies.
• Prioritise customer order processing, depending upon the date of despatch.
• Dealing with customer queries – When goods are short, or when customers require a recovery. You will achieve this by fully investigating
the issue and working in partnership with other relevant departments.
• Raising invoices following customer orders, ensuring accuracy of invoice.
• Timely and accurate filing of the hard copy customer orders, purchase orders and invoices.
• General distribution administration duties, including data input, assisting with service related issues & collation of information.
• Be a positive ambassador of the company at all times, ensuring that all contacts into the business are provided with customer service
excellence.
• Take ownership of the role in both the development of practices and procedures as well as developing your own career within our
company.

Person specification
Previous experience of a busy customer service department with exposure to customer services procedures is imperative. Further experience within a food / transport related customer service function would be highly desirable but not essential.

You personally, will be a champion of fostering positive relationships will all Stakeholders whilst maintaining good accuracy and attention to detail. You must have an excellent telephone manner and be able to remain calm whilst working with a heavy workload. You will also be proficient in common IT packages – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Today, a stroll down any high street allows our products to be purchased from retail and foodservice outlets, whether off the shelf or in a sandwich, burger, pizza or on a plate in a restaurant and it will have passed through our BRC AA grade factory along the way.
