Trainee Precision Optical Engineer/QA
Job Purpose: To Manufacture optical components to specification. To become knowledgeable about sheet materials, coatings and specifications. You will become an expert in the production of precision optical components and applications. Working alongside the QA team to ensure specifications are met.

You will manage and maintain sheet materials in the warehouse. Ensuring that materials are correctly labelled, stored and ordered to requirement.
You will be responsible for maintaining the production area and ensuring it is clean and tidy at all times.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
• Cutting material to size
• Maximising material yield.
• Stacking material using different techniques ready for grinding/edging.
• Grinding and edging material to drawing specification
• Polishing material to specification
• Chamfering material
• Using Micrometres to measure optical components.
• Cleaning and handling optical components
• Packing components
• Checking stock
• Inspecting optical components
• Manage and maintain sheet material in the stock room.
• Ensure materials are correctly stored and clearly marked.
• Maintain stock control of sheet material.
• Help out in QA when required.
• Checking measurements against specification
• Using Metrology Lab equipment to inspect optical components
• Reporting findings to QA and Sales team

Relevant Qualifications and Experience:
• GCSE Pass in maths and English, science beneficial
• General interest in science and technology.
• Good listening skills
• Keen to learn
• Good eye for detail
• Work to deadlines
