The purpose is to ensure accuracy of readings taken by the contractor, proof of supply visits, and identification of potential leaks / issues that would need to be escalated to Wholesalers. The successful candidate will carry out meter reading field activity along with high priority special reads, will respond to customer questions and will resolve water use queries and problems when raised. Field activity to also include obtaining customer information to ensure that billing details are updated with current occupants and discussing accounts with customers.
Duties will include:
Providing accurate and prompt meter readings and customer information to ensure that the account can be billed efficiently and customer contact is reduced as issues have been resolved.
Conduct initial investigations on high/ low consumption meters and establish proof of supplies
Update records promptly and identify problems needed to be escalated to Wholesalers to resolve
Conduct visits to identify occupancy and discuss account details with customers as required to ensure that consumption is billed and supplies paid for. Including discussing payment options with customers
Liaise with office based staff to ensure high standards of customer service are provided at all times
Plan workloads and arrange customer appointments as required
The successful candidate will have:
*Directly-related current field experience in working with or reading water meters.
*Be self-disciplined and able to use their own initiative.
*Have excellent customer service and able to communicate effectively with customers face to face
*Must be computer literature and able to use meter reading equipment
*The ability to plan and prioritise own workloads to ensure all targets are achieved
*A full, clean driving licence is required
*Due to the nature of the role, a Criminal Disclosure will be carried out
The successful candidate must be flexible and positive in their approach to both work and customers and must be prepared to carry out additional ad-hoc work as required. Proven ability to follow office procedures, methods and use of equipment, including systems is essential.
In return, we offer a competitive salary, a minimum of 25 days annual leave, a stakeholder pension scheme in which the maximum Company contribution is 10% and a life assurance scheme.
