Position Expectations
The Head of Operations is responsible for developing internal operational capabilities in all areas, ensuring the company is a centre of excellence for aftermarket services within the agreed profitability range of the group. This position will have overall responsibility for all workshops and logistics. Candidates must possess a proven track record in productivity improvements, waste reduction and lean manufacturing coupled with a wealth of experience in change management and performance improvement. Ideally 10 years’ experience at Senior management level and experience of managing very large multi-cultural teams of 500 upwards.
Key Duties
Lead by example and communicate to the team/s the objectives set
Review current production capabilities across the operation, identify key areas that need addressing
Develop daily production plan including previous days’ updates from clients given to the Business Managers
Conduct continuous improvement projects in order to further enhance production. Optimise production capabilities alongside Technical and Process teams. Identify key areas of inefficiencies and develop a progression plan to replace expensive labour with an automated solution
Develop alongside executive team a set of reporting to monitor and control the overall production and quality levels
Develop a clear method of communication, deliver weekly production meetings and share knowledge amongst the production management team
Ensure that production management teams review daily production efficiencies and WIPs within their area of control
Review warehouse and logistics operation to ensure that resources are optimised and stock accuracy are increased
Develop a method to ensure that all stock is accounted for
Perform daily control on all areas in terms of quality and productivity
Liaise with customers in relation to daily operational queries
Introduce an annual formal review process for production management team to ensure that personal targets and improvement plans are recorded and can be audited
Deliver ongoing training to the production management team covering key areas: Quality, Productivity, Management and Coaching and Lean Manufacturing
Motivate and inspire staff
Manage personnel issues relating to direct team and act an appeal chair for any formal meetings
Comply with ISO requirements
