The role of IT Coordinator is a new one within the School of Economics. The School has grown considerably over the past few years, both in terms of staff and student numbers, and in terms of the complexity of research and associated demands that puts on its IT provision. Management of this IT infrastructure is too much for one role and there is need for further support. There are plans for the School to move to a new building in 2019, which will include a dedicated Economics IT lab for approximately 40 students, a multi-purpose room and various other meeting rooms and social spaces with IT facilities.
The School lags behind some of its competitors in terms of website provision and there is a pressing need for an improved web presence (working within University brand and templates), and for better in-house technical web systems support.
As IT Coordinator you will:
Be responsible for the installation and maintenance of both hardware and software
Provide general IT troubleshooting and problem solving, responding to queries from students and staff
Maintain and develop the School's online presence and social media channels
Maintain asset management register and stock levels
To be successful in this role you will have:
ECDL or RSA IT or equivalent qualification
Proven experience in an IT support/administrative role
Good all-round experience of PCs and Windows: building, troubleshooting, and installing software
Experience of providing websites and content for a range of browsers
Good understanding of the web, website structure and navigation, web best practice and standards, and writing for the web
