TRAINEE CHAPEL ATTENDANT CREMATORY TECHNICIAN
(30 HOURS PER WEEK)
CAREER GRADE POST GRADE 4-6
STARTING SALARY £16,807 PRO RATA

The death of a loved one can be a difficult time. Jobs within the funeral industry call for people with sensitivity to the nature of bereavement and an eye for detail.

Vinters Park Crematorium is planning for its future. In order to continue to deliver a first class service to families that are going through a very difficult time, we need to recruit the right people to enhance our service.

The postholder will work with a team to ensure the provision of a quality Cremation and Burial service for Maidstone Borough Council by undertaking a range of duties.

The Chapel Attendant/Cremation Technician (Trainee) will be trained in all aspects of cremation. They will learn to undertake Chapel Duties for services held at the Crematorium, trained to undertake cremations and also work with the office staff to assist with the maintenance of the grounds. The role will also include undertaking scattering and burial of ashes and undertaking small services when families are present.

The ideal candidates will have an empathetic attitude and be able to converse and deal with members of the public, Clergy, Funeral Directors, organists and associated staff in a sensitive manner. They will also be able to work well as part of a team. The ability to be methodical and follow rigorous set procedures relating to the cremation and burial procedures is essential. Pride in your work and a high standard of accuracy and flexibility is required.

The Council considers this to be a customer focused roles and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.

The Chapel Attendant/Cremation Technician (Trainee) role is 30 hours a week, which equates to six hours per day, Monday to Friday.
