SENIOR TECHNICAL & INFORMATION OFFICER
PLANNING POLICY
£26,827 - £30,178
Swale is situated at the Eastern end of the Thames Gateway and is in an exciting period of change with plans for major growth. The Borough lies in an attractive and diverse part of Kent, which brings both challenges and opportunities. We will be adopting our Local Plan in the very near future and then embarking upon an immediate review. If you have an interest in planning and the environment and would like to play a varied and key supporting role in our busy Local Plan Team, read on.
A unique and exciting opportunity has now arisen for a new Senior Technical and Information Officer to join the busy Planning Policy team on a full time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Spatial Planning Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the work of two Technical Officers. You will be responsible for monitoring development annually (including site surveys); producing key statistical reports and returns; overseeing our online publication and consultation system and generating reports; dealing with general enquiries for statistics; overseeing our GIS mapping needs and supporting professional planning officers with key information.
The role is varied and challenging, so we are looking for someone who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, has very sound statistical, technical and IT skills, great attention to detail and can work accurately and to tight deadlines; and can also act as website ‘champion’ for the Planning Service. Experience of the UK planning system is an advantage, but training is available on this.
Swale Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.
The Council considers that all roles should be able to communicate clearly and concisely.
For further information or to discuss this opportunity in more detail, please contact Gill Harris, Spatial Planning Manager or Alan Best, Principal Planning Officer on 01795 417118.
To apply for the position please visit www.swale.gov.uk/jobs and complete the online application form.
Closing Date: 10th April 2017
Interview Date: 04th May 2017
