URGENT Heavy Plant Fitter - Rail - Medway

Our Client a who has over 25 years Nationwide success in Road Rail Vehicle and Plant Equipment suppliers and services to the country’s leading rail infrastructure are looking for experience in Heavy Plant Fitters Nationwide to undertake the servicing, diagnostics, repair, inspection and delivery of all vehicles, plant and equipment to comply with legislative, Client and Company requirements.

We are looking for someone that has come from the heavy construction background. Has previously worked on excavators, dumpers, rollers etc.

• Troubleshooting / diagnosing - Electrical, Engine, Transmission, Hydraulic components
• Operating machinery, Cleaning and rebuilding components
• Carry out on site repairs
• Carry out workshop repairs
• spec parts, Compiling Parts lists / Price quotes

• Provide details of engine hours worked information for each item of plant
• Undertake maintenance of hire fleet vehicles as qualified and directed
• Undertake road transport vehicle maintenance activity as directed
• Undertake routine testing of safety-critical systems and equipment as directed (MMP04)
• Undertake annual inspection of plant equipment without a lifting capability to meet statutory requirements
• Maintain comprehensive records, both electronically and in hard copy, for each vehicle and item of plant and equipment to demonstrate the performance of all pre-hire checks, routine servicing, statutory inspection and breakdown repair
• Undertake the correct and regular maintenance and calibration of all equipment in accordance with instructions
• Maintain and inspect lifting accessories to the required standard
• Report any defect in vehicles and plant and monitor safety performance
• Ensure that all errors, non-compliance and complaints are logged, raised and handled according to the requirements of the Company’s QMS system
• Ensure that all fire extinguishers supplied with machines are inspected and passed fit for purpose prior to the machine being released for despatch to site
• Other tasks and duties as may be required from time to time.
You will also be required to:
• To attend required safety briefings and ensure you understand the context and what is required of you
• To participate in drug and alcohol screening when required
• To suggest suitable modifications to any track plant that may enhance its performance or capabilities
• To ensure you are in possession of your personalised rule book at all times when on or near the track
• To comply with the Incident Plan of the Client or Main Contractor at all times and to report any incident in the approved manner
• To ensure you follow all control measures outlined in any risk assessment relating to the work you do
• To use the designated Personal Protective Equipment at all times as directed and to maintain it in accordance with the instructions provided, reporting any loss or damage in the required manner
Essential Skills
• Heavy plant experience, preferably with RRV experience
• Good mechanical engineering skills
• Qualified or time-served diesel fitter
• Responsible, methodical and good attention to detail
• Good team player with a can-do attitude
• Polite, customer focused and the desire to do a good job
• Holds current driving licence
• Physically fit
• PTS card holder
Desirable Skills
• Ability to operate machines and attachments
• Awareness of the legislative and the rules, regulations and requirements pertinent to vehicles, plant and equipment, especially that used on the railway
