A Senior Accountant is required for 6-12 months on a contract to join a finance team of 12.

Duties will include:

*The management and coordination of year end activity
*Liaising with both internal and external auditors ensuring full compliance
*Manage aspects of activity and workloads to develop the Budget and Medium Term Financial Plan ensuring that the required information is prepared to meet agreed reporting deadlines.
*Manage revenue and capital budget monitoring activity to ensure that forecasts are updated to reflect the latest position and that they are accurate and timely.
*Ensure the accurate completion and return (within the specified deadlines), of all statutory returns
*Manage the treasury activity. Ensure that there is monitoring of the daily cash flow and fund account bank balances and that bank reconciliations and other system control accounts are monitored
*Manage the capital accounting activity and maintenance of fixed asset registers and liaison with the Authority's Valuer.
*Challenge and input to the development of the financial systems and processes to improve the efficiency of financial transactions, tasks, reporting and processes. Ensure that appropriate checks are carried out to test the validity and accuracy of data posted to the general ledger.

It is essential that you are an AAT qualified Accountant as a minimum, with experience of public sector accounting. You will be knowledgeable in regards to year-end accounting arrangements, treasury activities and budget management.
