JOB SUMMARY:
The Lab Technician I position will assist in specific duties to ensure the overall success of the plant tissue culture laboratory. Daily duties may include: media preparation, container and equipment cleaning, movement of materials and tissue culture micro propagation as well as postharvest evaluation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous work experience in similar field desired
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment with multiple departments
• Candidate must be disciplined, detail oriented and self-motivated
• Ability to communicate well in English
• Many duties require manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks
• Heavy lifting of (approximately 35lbs) on intermittent basis and extended periods of being seated
• Valid driving license would be a bonus

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Prepare tissue culture media in compliance within established specifications
2. The micro propagation of tissue culture while meeting and maintaining productivity and quality standards
3. The transfer of tissue culture materials within communicated specifications
4. Clean lab, lab materials and lab equipment
5. Check lab contamination and communicate information in a timely manner
6. Ensures the safe keeping of propriety varieties and confidential information
7. Plant and after planting care of material in the greenhouse
8. Assist the postharvest team with assessments and other duties when required
9. Follows company policies and practices while representing Driscoll’s in an ethical and business - like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, etc
10. Performs other duties as assigned
11. The successful applicant must be prepared to work flexibly to meet season workloads with weekend work on rotational basis
